“How many companies do you think are involved behind a bag of flour or a pack of pasta?”
This question marked the beginning of the meeting at Ocrim, guiding students through a journey of discovery along the entire agri-food supply chain.
On June 10, we welcomed at one of our facilities a group of high school students taking part in the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore Summer School, an initiative focused on exploring key topics related to management and business.
The visit, organized in collaboration with the University’s orientation team and involving Professor Fabio Antoldi together with faculty members and staff, was designed to offer students a concrete, first-hand experience of the industrial world, complementing their academic learning with direct exposure to a real production environment.
The morning programme began with a welcome session and a company presentation, followed by a guided tour of the production departments at our Via Riglio facility and a visit to the adjacent milling plant, the Milling Hub.

The visit to the milling plant proved to be one of the most significant moments of the day. For many students, who initially had limited awareness of what a milling plant is and how it operates, entering the Milling Hub sparked both curiosity and surprise. Here, they were able to observe firsthand how each component designed and manufactured at the production site is applied in the installed machinery, forming a complex and fully integrated system and gaining a direct understanding of the link between design, production, and plant operation.
Through experiences like this, we reaffirm our commitment to fostering dialogue between industry and academia, firmly believing that engaging with younger generations is a strategic investment in the future. Initiatives like this help build a tangible bridge between education and industry, providing students with valuable insights to better navigate and shape their professional paths.
