Our supply chain

A leader in the wheat seed sector in Italy, S.I.S. has built its reputation by multiplying and distributing high-quality cereal varieties originating from the Institute of Plant Breeding in Bologna and from private individuals. With a history dating back to 1947, this company represents a pillar in the growth of the quality of national cereal cultivation and remains the oldest seed company in Italian hands.

Founded in 1871, Bonifiche Ferraresi is the largest Italian agricultural company by utilised agricultural area, specialising in the cultivation and marketing of agri-food products. Gruppo BF – to which Bonifiche Ferraresi belongs – currently manages assets of about 9,500 hectares and includes 17 companies, both subsidiaries and associates. Groppo BF is Italy’s first and only listed agro-industrial group. In 2015, Ocrim became a shareholder in BF S.p.A., a move considered synergistic for the development of the cereal supply chain, as the BF Group represents a key production platform for the entire sector.

Founded in 1980, SIMA specialises in the design and production of storage systems for cereals, pulses and finished products. Known for its ability to create tailored solutions that meet the needs of an evolving market, SIMA offers comprehensive expertise, from design to the implementation of ‘turnkey’ systems.

Since 1945, OCRIM has been a leader in the design and production of milling machines and ‘turnkey’ plants. Specialising in the processing of wheat, maize, and other cereals, OCRIM enhances the Made in Italy brand through an entirely Italian production process, focusing on quality and innovation in design.

Since 1926, Paglierani has designed, built and installed machines and complete lines for weighing, packaging and bagging, serving a wide range of industries. Its close relationship with OCRIM since 2008 has strengthened its offering in projects involving individual machines or complete lines for the milling industry.

Milling Hub is the joint-stock company that manages OCRIM’s milling plants at Porto Canale in Cremona, ensuring the traceability of the raw material from the field to the finished product. This company embodies Ocrim’s integrated approach within the agri-food supply chain.

Pastificio Ghigi has been producing durum wheat semolina pasta since 1870, maintaining the grain tradition led by Italian producers. With a significant annual production, Ghigi emphasises the importance of short supply chains and authentic Italian products.

BIA S.p.A., a leading producer of organic couscous and products made from Italian-sourced ingredients, is positioned as a top player in the European market. Since 2022, with Ocrim’s investment in its share capital, BIA has strengthened its commitment to the Italian wheat industry.

Le Stagioni d’Italia, a brand of the Bonifiche Ferraresi Group, offers products ranging from pasta and rice to legumes and cereals, all made from 100% Italian raw materials. This brand exemplifies Italian identity, biodiversity and a commitment to sustainability and traceability.

EDUCATION

From the supply chain comes higher education

The collaboration between the various companies in the supply chain, institutional bodies and universities has led to the creation of a true centre of excellence dedicated to agriculture, milling and agri-food market trends. It is a campus in the province of Ferrara, built in collaboration with Bonifiche Ferraresi, featuring a research centre, an auditorium and fields for precision agriculture. In addition to this, there are the Milling Hub Masterclasses, born from the synergy between OCRIM and MH. These are training programmes offered by O|School with training and field experience in a mill, Milling hub.
