Actor, director, comedian, screenwriter, he was one of the most important and unforgettable protagonists of Italian comedy, awarded with a Palme d\u2019Or at Cannes, three David di Donatello and four Nastro d\u2019Argento awards. His hometown celebrates him, actor and man, with a packed schedule of events sponsored by a group of Companies, which Ocrim just had to be a part of.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p><strong>100% UGO<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignleft size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocrim.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/05\/TOGNAZZI-CONVEGNO.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ocrim.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/05\/TOGNAZZI-CONVEGNO-724x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5718\" width=\"265\" height=\"375\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>The first of a long series of <strong>initiatives<\/strong> that Cremona wanted to dedicate to one of its favourite sons, the actor <strong><em>Ugo Tognazzi<\/em><\/strong> (1922-1990), has just ended. <strong>Three days of cultural events <\/strong>organised by the <strong>Municipality of Cremona in collaboration with the Department of Musicology and Cultural Heritage of the University of Pavia<\/strong>, Cremona branch. The main event was an international conference attended by no less than <strong>30 university professors<\/strong> and film experts from all over the world, who discussed the figure of Ugo Tognazzi, a worthy representative, together with <strong><em>Alberto Sordi, Vittorio Gassman, and Nino Manfredi <\/em><\/strong>of I<strong>talian-style comedy.<\/strong> This film genre developed in Italy between <strong>the \u201850s and \u201870s<\/strong> enjoyed great success for its comic portrayal of the (few) vices and virtues of the Italian middle class of the time, thanks to the participation of exceptional performers. A splice of real-life with <strong>brilliant social satire<\/strong>, characterised by a substantial underlying bitterness.&nbsp; <strong>Actor, comedian, director, performer, screenwriter,<\/strong> over his long and rich television and cinema career, Ugo Tognazzi stood out for his <strong>interpretative versatility, <\/strong>ranging from farce to drama, with a rare and personal flair for portraying different characters. It would take too long to list the numerous awards that made films such as <strong><em>\u201cLa Califfa [Lady Caliph]\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u201cI mostri [The Monsters]\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u201cLa bambolona [Baby Doll]\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u201cAmici miei [My Friends]\u201d<\/em><\/strong>, <strong><em>\u201cIl vizietto [La Cage aux Folles]\u201d<\/em><\/strong> immortal, so we will only mention the <strong>Palme d\u2019Or<\/strong> won at the Cannes Film Festival for the film <strong><em>\u201cLa tragedia di un uomo ridicolo [The Tragedy of a Ridiculous Man]\u201d<\/em><\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Ministry of Economic Development<\/strong> with the <strong>Italian Post Office<\/strong> have issued, on this occasion, a <strong>commemorative stamp <\/strong>belonging to the thematic series <strong>\u201cthe Italian Excellence of the Show\u201d<\/strong> dedicated to Ugo Tognazzi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:47px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>A Playful Nature<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-large is-resized\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ocrim.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IMG-20220321-WA0006.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.ocrim.com\/app\/uploads\/2022\/05\/IMG-20220321-WA0006-576x1024.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5720\" width=\"264\" height=\"470\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Ugo had a close bond with his hometown, <strong>he<\/strong> <strong>often came to Cremona<\/strong> to spend time with childhood friends, and his characters often spoke in the <strong>Cremonese dialect<\/strong>. His lines in the film <strong><em>\u201cLa marcia su Roma [March on Rome]\u201d<\/em><\/strong> are legendary.&nbsp; In addition to celebrating the performer, Cremona also wishes to pay tribute to the man, <strong>his playful nature and his passion for cooking <\/strong>with other food-related events scheduled for the upcoming months of October and November. Ugo surrounded himself with the people he loved: <strong>his extended family,<\/strong> he had three wives and four children, <strong>friends<\/strong> and <strong>co-workers.<\/strong> He was known for his \u201cadunate\u201d: summer gatherings at his <strong>villa in <em>Torvaianica<\/em>,<\/strong> where he would entertain showbiz friends of the calibre of P<strong><em>aolo Villaggio, Bernardo Bertolucci, Vittorio Gassman, Luciano Salce, Mario Monicelli <\/em><\/strong>and many others with <strong>endless feasts and hard-fought tennis tournaments.<\/strong> Ugo would roll his sleeves up in the kitchen and prepare fine dishes for his guests, who then had the honour of voting for the best recipe; for any less successful dish, the reactions of an angry Ugo were worthy of his most controversial characters. <strong>He was a theatrical <\/strong>man performing to a crowd of theatrical people; with every gesture, he expressed <strong>his ironic and pleasure-seeking nature<\/strong>, like his idea of awarding a &#8220;<strong>golden pasta colander<\/strong>&#8221; to the winner of his famous tennis tournaments.
